This course is ideal if you are an aspiring project manager, or a practising project manager wishing to validate or update your skills. It gives you the knowledge to implement good practice throughout the whole project lifecycle from start to finish.
You will:
➜ Look at different techniques to increase the success rate of projects
➜ Learn how to deliver projects on time and on budget
➜ Study planning techniques to prevent project failure and increase delivery efficiency
➜ Gain transferrable management skills to support your career development
➜ Understand how your business operates at a more strategic level
➜ Learn practical techniques which can be applied immediately within the business
5 one-day sessions, over 2-3 months

You will learn about:
➜ Conducting a feasibility study (with a business case) so you can decide how, or if, to proceed with your project
➜ The different structured methods such as PRINCE2© and how they can help and hinder a project
➜ Planning to remove potential sources of project failure
➜ The different tools and techniques for planning, monitoring and delivering a project
➜ Selecting and managing a high performing project team
➜ Managing risk before a during a project
This is a level 4 programme and by the end of the course you will have undertaken a feasibility study and written a detailed project delivery plan for a project in your work place through two written assignments and a short presentation. Self-study outside the taught sessions is required.
This course is a 20 credit module accredited by Plymouth University. On completion of this course, you could progress onto the full foundation degree from which this course has been taken, FdA Managing Business Resources.
