This course offers a fantastic insight into the role of archaeologists and the process of archaeology, starting from initial research to site identification, excavation and survey and analysis and interpretation of the archaeological evidence. We look at material culture, famous sites and discuss some of the scientific techniques and tools available to archaeologists to help us understand our fascinating human history.
The course is 3 hours per week with potential for field trips to sites and local heritage institutions (weather and time permitting).

The tutor has a BA Hons degree in Archaeology and History and an MA in Classical Studies as well as several years teaching experience on both qualification and part-time recreational courses.

There may be additional costs for entry to museums. Additional home study is not essential but extension tasks will be available to do at home if students wish.
